A Gauge Design Tool?

Postby Jules327 on 04.08.2009, 18:57

The gauge editor software is brilliant, I've been playing about with it while finishing my dash.............

This was my first effort, not very original I admit but just for getting the hang of the software. While searching for inspiration I came across a site that you guys might find interesting........

These guys sell gauges that use face-plates that you can design yourself on thier website or choose from hundreds of pre-made faces, then download them FREE in PDF format. I wasn't sure if you were aware of it, but I just had to post here to make sure, this makes the whole thing just so easy! :D

Interresting development, seems to be a marketing hole.
In germany we have a "Frontplatten designer" which results can be ordered in printed metal plates.
The designer is freeware and the hardware order brings money to the developer company.

Yes sirnoname, also by freely distributing the software side of the product they generate "user content" and don't have to generate images themselves, a pretty neat marketing plan! and some of the user content is top quality!

For anyone who is either making "virtual gauges" or indeed creating gauges from servos using printed paper faces, this could be a very handy tool, not only can you upload your own background image to make a custom faceplate for your "sim-racer", you may also be contributing to a real "street machine". Someone may download and use your design in a real-world application, now thats what I call sharing! lol 8)

Cheers, Jules.
