Sure is fredspeed they use the main chip but a very big difference in the rest, bascilly the Jrk has one of the vnh2sp30 motor driver chips sets on it with alot more to handle feedback, internal memory(once set just send the command via usb and it runs),voltage reg, etc. I strongly believe Thanos unit is far better just could not source the parts here in Australia easily. So researched motor controllers and found the Jrk12v12.

I have Thanos amc buildt, and I might try to use nh2sp30 together with amc, if I fail to make a functioal h-bridge. Why do you think Thanos amc and h-bridge is far better than Pololu jrk 12v12 ?

First having people with handyman knowledge on fault checking the electronics of card is a big plus,
Pololu are a commercial card and have expressed they have no interest in helping people on their forum with question to Jrk's in Xsim. Poor support plus once asking question the just refer ya back to the manual and talk in technical jabber. Plus the card really doent have enough resolution in low and they wont answer on how to set it high. But in turn Jrks are perfect for people with little eletronic knowledge
to get sim up and running very quickly, just buy the card, a suitable moter (i recommend a 12v with right angle reduction gearbox attached not worm gears, suitable pot (1 turn alittle rough ya seem to only use 1/2 of its scale, so 5 to 10 turn pots geared to the motor spindal really smooths it out.), good power supply. Wire it all just 3 solder points for the pot, plug it in, set ya max/min in pololu config, setup uso's in xsim, etc and drive ya heart out, oops i forgot the profiles they another story.

So inturn Jrk's just lack support from Pololu. Thats what made my decision.

So the AMC is way better because of Pololu's lack of support?

I thought you are commenting on their performance. With a plugin, X-Sim can easily use the full resolution of the jrk, but not with the current USO parsing.

I think with the second generation of Thanos' electronics (including a redesigned, more reliable motor driver), your statement will be valid.
If there is a way of implementing the thermal/overcurrent protections to save innocent builders from frying their stuff, it will be great success!
Go Thanos go! :D

You are right, the jrk is perfect for people with little electronic knowledge, which is about 95% of the sim builders here.
Those who have electronics knowledge will probably build their own controller. :)

ok i am definatly not a programer so i am probably way off the mark here and if i am please let me know.

so i have been studying the pololu manual and online documentation and it states 0xc0 is the code for hi resolution comands so i converted that to decimal and that gives me the code ~192~~a01~ for axis 1.

i put this into the uso screen and my motor seems much more responsive can anyone els verify this as im just useing a tiny 12v motor on my test bed and it may be more noticble on a bigger motor

That is interesting because you are still passing an 8bit axis data to it.

If however the controller is now using 10bit resolution for the feedback value instead of 8bit, it is very possible to see some improvement.

I don't have the controller so I can only speculate here.

ok guys looks like i've been using high resolution all along.
Now awaiting it to be confirmed by pololu.
221 is high.
225 is low.

Changed my values and well to my surprise moving the slider by 1% causes to sim to move slightly were as before it wouldnt until i moved it 3-4%. Not sure why the card was responding they(pololu were baffled at this, hence why i dont like the support that comes, suppose its free support)

Hope this helps, will be testing values tonight on rfactor and dirt.

Sorry guys.
