GTRE motion freeze

New postby Kullen on 07.03.2009, 22:11

I had some problem with the motion freezing when driving GTR Evo and I would also like to make my own profile.

Tell us something about your pc. How many cores?
Bvillersjr'/MasterYoda' timings may be too agressive for your pc perhaps.

RE:GTRE motion freeze

New postby bvillersjr on 09.03.2009, 00:26

I tested X-Sim 2.0 on a dual core today and I think I may have discovered a bug that only shows itself on dual core processors! I tested with a PC that has similiar specs to the one mentioned above except it was 2.6Ghz. X-Sim was only ever able to run for a few minutes without locking up on this PC. Many times, the PC locked up when only X-Sim was running. I kept watching for a pattern, and I discovered that X-Sim reports ( i forget the exact number now) but 2xxx Mhz, and then suddeny reports half that number of Mhz. It was as if it saw 2 processors, and then suddenly it does not see one of the processors!

Also, I tried increasing the timing numbers to 16msec. and that did not prevent the lockups.

Does anyone else have a dual core that can confirm this?

I would like to add that I am successfully using X-Sim on several different quad-core PC's with no difficulty at all.

Is anyone running X-Sim 2.0.7.1 on a dual core PC successfully?

I left the profiler 2.0.7.1 running and it stopped responding after about 10 minutes...

That didn't happened with older versions!!!!!

@Thanos.

Just before the profiler 2.0.7.1 locks, do you notice the CPU Mhz number in the bottom of the profiler changing? Mine cuts in half as though it sometimes only sees one processor.

I suspect that these lockups have something to do with the PNP feature. I posted about this some time ago.

@Tronic - Were you using the PNP option when the profiler stopped responding? Also, were you using the isolate Profiler on first CPU core option?

Unfortunately, the dual-core that I tested on is not mine. I will be able to do further testing with the dual-core this weekend.

@SirNoName - Is this acknowledged as a bug, or do you think that these are just unusual PC's or circumstances?

Hi,

I wasn't able to see the status of the profiler the time that was freeze. It just stopped responding and its window contents turned into blank...

I tested again but this time I disabled the 10bitUSB.dll the JoyPlug.dll and the SCN5Serial.dll (since I don't use them) and the freeze was gone...!

I left it running for over an hour, with "artificial break" of 5ms on the math engine, and 5ms pause/cycle in the USO and my AMC was able to keep up fine with it and don't miss a byte!

I guess the problem must be with SCN5Serial.dll cause after I disable it from the Interfaceplugins firectory, I never got profiler to freeze again.

I can try again with SCN5Serial.dll enabled, but I don't know if that counts for me since I use USO in the end...!

@Tronic. Please do try with the SCN5Serial.dll in use. It would be great to narrow this problem down to a specific plugin or setting. I will do some more testing this weekend as well. I kept all the previous verions of X-Sim as well, so I will test with various versions also when I can.

Many dual cores were sold. We should do our best to resolve this before it hurts X-Sim's reputation.
