X-Sim ready logo legal?

New postby sirnoname on 07.09.2009, 21:44

Hi,

I have taken the best powered by X-Sim logo and transformed it a little bit to:
X-Sim-ready-small-2.gif

What do you think? Is the "ready" a problem to HD ready Trademark?
This should be used for users and comercials to show they are combatible with the community.
I think "powered by" will not be supported by others.

I like it!
But, what do you wanna say with the "ready" word?
If you would like to sell components I would understand it... but write it to a complett simulator?
Change the "ready" word to a "powered by" or else ?

I am not a legal expert, however, "ready" is too general of a word for someone to be able to protect IMHO, so I think it is safe to use. Additionally, I think that this is a good concept!

The "powered by" symbol is if someone likes to show that all of the used code and software is X-Sim. However there are some that use only parts of X-Sim or have own software but made a plugin for X-Sim which is intercompatible to all games and 3rd party hardware so the simracers can buy or rebuild and use Hardware in any combination.
So I think we will offer both symbols to show that there is a chance to use X-Sim with the project or 3rd party hardware.
The word "ready" will be a simple way to say there is software and a 3rd way for usage.

I'd rather prefer the logo without the driver.
Seems to me like the driver is using a squat latrine, or hiding from his rivals...:-D

Besides the driver, the logo is pretty good imho.

I agree. I thought of speed ice skating when I first saw it.
I think the logo is well designed but the driver makes it "too busy".

I would stick to the word "ready".
just my 2 cents

I had the same "latrine" first impression... LOL

Removing the driver will give a cleaner and more professional logo, imho! :-)

I didn't care much for the squatting driver either. Here is the logo that I settled on. I made it to look a bit like the logos found on PC's and telivisions from a sizing perspective.

Maybe we could write up some basic criteria that a device should follow in order to be "X-Ready" such as Plug-N-Play capable, tested to work with X-Sim, etc...? Generally, a logo of this nature is supposed to inspire consumer confidence that a product will work properly along side other products, in this case, X-Sim of course.
